Legacy Location Pages

Improved Design & SEO Optimization

About This Project

The Goal: The primary objective of this project was to increase traffic to the location pages of Legacy.com by optimizing the pages for SEO to boost search rankings. I worked in direct collaboration with Legacy’s in-house SEO expert to come up with several new modules and added placements for localized content. I also helped to refresh the page design and make the page more interactive and fun to browse recent local content.

Better SEO Content + Improved Design = Increased traffic = More Ad Impressions = Increased page revenue $$$

Interactive Carousel

I designed this interactive carousel as a more fun and engaging way for users to browse through recently published life stories. This module has easily grown to become one of the most clicked-on items on the location pages. I also included ad placements in the design for increased ad impressions to boost page revenue.

Links to Local Content

I designed these new modules primarily for SEO content, but it also serves as a way for users to browse through any local funeral homes or newspapers that they may be looking for.

More SEO Content

Additional modules that I designed include: an SEO loaded description of the location, a last-name directory in the form of letter picker & a link to buy flowers from local florist. All of these new modules dynamically pull in the location of the city/state and served to significantly boost SEO.

Here's The Full Page in Action

In addition to everything else I describe I also was tasked with gathering over 100 lovely hero images for each of the states and major cities in the US.

The Results

In addition to giving the page a much needed face-lift, my design efforts and added placements of localized content served to significantly boosted SEO, and thereby increased traffic and page revenue as a result. Users loved interacting with my carousel design as a browsing tool.

I also assisted in finding hero images for every state, territory and major city in the US which was a big undertaking. I utilized a lot of free image resources, which saved the company a lot of money on stock photography. Thanks to my resourcefulness I helped saved hundreds of dollars and came out way under budget on this project.
